Last Week of Planet Protectors!

I hope you are all safe and dry from the heavy rains this week. Since we did not have class, I wanted to share what we were going to learn about. I also included a couple of activities to try at home!

This week’s class was focusing on renewable energies, and why they are important to our planet. Renewable is term used to describe natural resources that can be renewed in a short period of time. Examples include wind, solar, water (hydropower), biomass, and geothermal.

Here is an explanation of those renewable energies along with a couple of activities to try at home: Renewable Energy Def_Activity.

More activities to try at home:

Here is an activity to learn about biomass: Biomass in a Bottle

Practice wind energy by making a wind car or sailboat.

Make a solar oven to cook a hotdog or toast s’mores.

    1. We are not able to make up the class, unfortunately. We are having an online version instead. Some of the activities from the class were posted here so the students do not miss out on the lesson from this week. For the Reusability Show, the students are asked to bring their projects to Earth Day this weekend instead.
