Squid and Octopus Dissections!

This week the Home Schoolers studied what types of adaptations ocean animals have to help them survive in the ocean. The further down you swim, the colder it gets, the darker it gets, and the more pressure there is. We learned there are some pretty awesome and creepy animals who are swimming in our salt waters, like the giant isopod, hatchetfish, stonefish, and zombie worms!

The highlight of the class, of course, was the dissections! We studied squid and octopus, from the outside in! The students loved feeling the tentacles and eyeballs, and were amazed to find a beak on the squid. We even made the ink sac squirt out the ink! We have lots of great pictures from this week. Be sure to share them with your student!
